Walking tour: The Staufen
Walking tour: The Staufen

Description
Take the family on a pleasant walk towards the "Croix de Lorraine": 12 m high structure, which dominates the town of Thann. A symbol of the Resistance in Alsace at the end of WWII, the first stone was laid down by the General de Gaulle on the 1st August 1948. The lightning of this monument, build on the Staufen hill, reminds the flame of the Resistance mentioned in general de Gaulle's 18th June appeal. Great view of the town, the Alsace plain and sometimes the Alps.
