A festive atmosphere!
"Every concert, every staging is an act of pure hermeneutics, an explanatory figuration of the senses..." George Steiner
"It's hard to believe that a major music festival can live far from the cities. Year after year, you only have to be among the Musicalta faithful to be convinced of the obvious success of the organizers' gamble. The frenzy around the programs, the murmurings of peers, all breathe and live to the rhythm of a festival that also aims to be a place of training, enough to give the region a small campus [...] here intimacy is the order of the day and, in this almost family atmosphere, everyone can let themselves be invaded by the performers' playing."
Répertoire Hors Série - June August 2001
Musicalta is 30 years old, 25 years in Rouffach & Pays de Rouffach, Vignobles et Châteaux. An artistic and human adventure in the service of a simple and demanding conviction - to bring to life in rural areas a quality cultural project that has nothing to envy from the big cities. The choice made 30 years ago of the credo - Diffusion, Creation, Formation - is more alive than ever.
These 30 years have seen over a thousand concerts performed by some of today's finest performers, over 40 new works and as many guest artists, as well as an average of 400 students each year from every continent celebrating culture and music. Since 2016, this adventure has also continued throughout the year with artistic residencies in schools, colleges and high schools in the Rouffach, Vignobles et Châteaux region, bringing music to life in the heart of the region well beyond festival time.
If such an anniversary is an opportunity to take stock of the road already traveled, it is also an opportunity to reflect on the future. Every day, music and its practices evolve, embracing the forms of the moment. As a living art form, it needs to be as close as possible to its environment and its audiences. For art can only be seen and perceived through contemporary eyes; it is a presence.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to our institutional and private partners, to our volunteers, audiences, artists and employees - to all those whose enthusiasm, commitment and loyalty have enabled a chrysalis of children's dreams to become the property of all.
